5 Facts You Didn’t Know About the Jeep Wrangler

Categories: Cylinder Head Tips

We have sold a good number of new and refurbished Jeep Wrangler cylinder heads. So we know a thing or two about this special vehicle. Unlike any other vehicle on the market, the Jeep Wrangler has constantly proved why it is incomparable to its competitors. Since its debut in 1986, the Jeep Wrangler’s iconic appearance and drive have not stopped being a fan favorite. After taking design inspiration from the Willy’s MB model used in World War II, the Jeep Wrangler has continued to adapt and enhance over 5 generations of models.

If you want to learn more about the Jeep history, check out our older blog entry here. Aside from its deep roots in American war history, the Wrangler has many other interesting facts that you may not have heard of before. Here are 5 things you didn’t know about the Jeep Wrangler:

  1. Impossible to Find a ‘96 Wrangler

While you may be thinking the ‘96 Wrangler was discontinued, it actually never even existed. The intended ‘96 model was experiencing manufacturing problems which created major delays. Instead of rushing to produce an average vehicle, Jeep continued to make their ‘95 Wrangler YJ for about 18 months. Eventually, Jeep switched production over to create the Wrangler TJ which was marketed as an early release for the ‘97 model. Despite Jeep not producing a Wrangler model for 1996, their 1997 sales proved that the marketing scheme worked. Jeep produced 149,073 ‘97 Wranglers compared to 108,174 ‘98 Wranglers the following year. This just shows how attentive Jeep keeps to their overall brand and company standards.

  1. Quick Original Design

For over 36 years, the Wrangler design has remained relatively similar to its original design. From its slotted front grill to its boxy shape, the Wrangler still has maintained its iconic look. The original Wrangler design took only 2 days to complete which is pretty unheard of when it comes to model design. At the time, World War II was in the making and there was a desperate need for replacement war vehicles. The military was looking for a vehicle that would be lightweight, durable, and four-wheel drive. Karl Probst and his company, Bantam, created the prototype and inspiration for the Wrangler within 2 days. The fact that Jeep managed to master their look in 2 days just proves that they have been ahead of the game from the start.

  1. Weatherproof

While we’d be lying if we said Jeep Wranglers are completely weatherproof, they definitely can hold against all types of weather. Whether it’s raining and muddy outside or it’s snowing and slushy outside, the Wrangler is able to maintain its top-quality drive without having to worry about engine problems. Wranglers are designed for people who want to go on an adventure outside. That’s why nearly every part of the Wrangler is waterproof or water-resistant. Jeep kept all possibilities for weather in mind as they created a versatile and reliable vehicle for those who are adventurers at heart.

  1. Incredibly Capable

Even though it’s obvious that the Wrangler is extremely capable and an overall reliable drive, the level of its capability goes beyond any other vehicle in the market. The Wrangler’s all-terrain tires combined with its 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels allow the vehicle to power through anything in its way. Sure, the Wrangler can drive off-road, through snow, and in the sand, but it impressively can rock-climb, drive over unpaved roads, and drive through shallow riverbeds. It’s not every day you will see a vehicle accomplish these activities. Don’t believe us?

  1. Paving the Way: Electrified Open-Air SUV

Typically, when people think of electric cars, they label them as “city cars”. As the car industry starts shifting towards hybrid and electric vehicles, Jeep has followed to challenge the narrative. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is the Industry’s First Electrified Open-Air SUV (Jeep). Without having to compromise on quality, efficiency, or cost, this hybrid innovation gives drivers a convenient on and off-road vehicle. The Wrangler 4xe gives drivers the best of both worlds as you can choose which mode you want to be in hybrid, electric, or e-save. While the Wrangler has always been designed for people who love the planet, the latest model is now the most planet-friendly Wrangler yet!
