The Toyota AZ engine family is a series of straight-4 piston engines which use an aluminum engine block that’s made with aluminum DOHC cylinder heads and cast iron cylinder liners. The technology used in this series of engines is very impressive, which is why they were used for many years in Toyota vehicles. The AZ was the replacement for the previous S engine and was succeeded by the AR engine.
